Morris County Child Pornography Defense Attorneys | Possession and Distribution

If you have been arrested for Internet sex crime charges of possession or distribution of child pornography, you face the possibility of very severe penalties, including incarceration, court-ordered treatment, and sex offender registration.

The New Jersey Criminal Code states:

Any person who knowingly possesses or knowingly views any photograph, film, videotape, computer program or file, video game or any other reproduction or reconstruction which depicts a child engaging in a prohibited sexual act or in the simulation of such an act, including on the Internet, is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree.

A person convicted of a crime in the fourth degree may be sentenced to state prison for a period of up to 18 months.

Distribution of child pornography carries even stiffer penalties. Distribution of child pornography is a crime of the second degree and is punishable by up to 10 years in state prison.
